Today we’re going to have a look at yet another of Mieles’ advanced models. This time, the focus of our canister vacuum reviews series falls upon the Miele S2121 Delphi. The model shares most of the common Miele advantages and disadvantages with its predecessors. It offers great power and multi functionality, while costing a tad more than the competition. However, just as always, the Miele engineers have outdone themselves and the vacuum is more than worth it.
Like we’ve already mentioned, the Miele S2121 Delphi Canister Vacuum Cleaner shares a lot of the features, typical for the S2 series. As such, it has the standard 1,200-watt Miele motor, featuring the Vortex technology. The motor provides you with amazing suction power and functionality, bringing little to no dangers of clogging. The vacuums’ standard features aren’t much different than those of the other models in the series. It has six power settings which are adjustable through the use of a rotary dial and the motor protection function prevents most of the common possible problems. It offers the users HEPA filtration as well as an active air clean filter. The cleaning radius is on par with everything else in the S2 series, allowing it to cover up to 29,5 feet distance, allowing you to easily deal with even the biggest of rooms. True to the S2 series, the model is great at dealing with low and medium pile carpeting, rugs and smooth flooring.
The Miele S2121 Delphi Canister Vacuum Cleaner comes with the usual set of utilities, featuring a Telescopic stainless steel wand, a crevice nozzle, a dusting brush and an upholstery tool. What the model lacks in comparison to its counterparts is the non-electric hose. On the other hand, it covers that downside by offering its owner the option to use an electric hose. The basic attachments are good, but sadly they can only cover the standard cleaning needs of a home. If you need to handle more specialized tasks, you should look into obtaining extra attachments. Like we usually say – the best canister vacuums are those which offer the best attachments.
We’ve already established that the Miele S2121 Delphi is very similar to the rest of the series. However this alone isn’t reason enough for a model to be featured in our best canister vacuum reviews. The models usually have to be more than just similar in offered attachments to be even considered, and below you can read the reasoning behind our choice.
Powerful – This one is rarely an issue when it comes to the Miele company. Needless to say, the model can easily blow most of its competition away with little to no effort and can easily stand its own when it comes to comparisons.
Awesome for rugs, low & medium piled carpets and bare floors – the only task that remains not covered by the default attachment package is high pile carpeting and pet hair. And while those attachments do not come for free with the initial purchase of the model, they are easily obtainable should you need them.
Made to last – The longevity of a model pays a very important role in the whole price tag discussion. Nobody likes expensive models that can break down fast, and thankfully, Miele never produced any of those. Most of our featured canister vacuums will last way longer than your average model, and the S2121 Delphi is no exception.
If you have read any of our previous canister vacuum reviews, you already know that we never feature a model without showcasing its bad sides along with the good ones. In this case, the main disadvantage comes from its rather high price tag. However, this time it is also backed up by the fact that the default attachment package doesn’t feature all the tools you might need for a cleanup. Sadly, if you wish to have pet hair cleaning attachments, you will have to pay extra money.
Pricey – A problem shared by most Miele models, the S2121 Delphi has quite the high price tag, even for a canister vacuum cleaner. And while it is more than reasonable for a product of its quality, there aren’t all that many customers willing to pay it straight up. We would advise you to carefully consider other alternatives if you have a limited budget.
We gave the Miele S2121 Delphi a 9 out of 10. The major downside of the model, lying within its price tag is typical for Miele products but is almost completely offset by the upsides. The S2 Delphi offers superb suction power, longevity and multi functionality in a neat package. However, if you own multiple carpet types or keep pets, the downside of the model becomes more obvious, as you will have to purchase additional attachments.
In the end of the day, if you are looking for a solid vacuum cleaner with a lot of possible attachment options and price tags aren’t too big of an issue, the Miele S2 Delphi might be one of the best canister vacuum choices for you. On the other hand, if your budget is limited, you might want to look elsewhere.
